Today in City of Heroes my team faced harassment from a level 41 n00b. This guy messaged one of my teammates demanding to be invited to the team and be sidekicked. At the time we were in the middle of a mission and fighting quite a few villains, so my teammate did not respond. Well Senior Burrito decided to verbally harass my teammate, sending cusses his way, and insisting that he was going to pay for not treating a player respectfully.
What. The. Frak.
Since when is inviting a person to a team obligatory? And how does it justify attacking another player if they say no. My fellow teammate told Senior Burrito that he would be ignored if he did not cease and desist. Burrito was not only not amused but acted as if my teammate had personally insulted his mother with a spatula. He continued to insult my teammate until he blocked him, and we all followed suit.
Our supergroup consists of people we know locally, and the characters we were playing with tonight are characters that we only play with together. I believe I have the right to play an online game with my local friends without being harassed because we declined to play with a n00b. We were not personally insulting him; we were in the middle of a mission, and we already had plans for the night among ourselves. If we were not playing those characters, we would have invited him, but seeing as our other characters are not as high level, I doubt he would have agreed to play with us.
This dude was totally not cool and did not understand basic social interactions or protocol. As far as I am concerned the Gods can have him as their play toy because he's not playing with this gamer chick.
Over and out,
